Grilled Sugarcane Shrimp

- 1 Fresh pineapple
- 24 Peeled shrimp 8 to 12 inch
- Sugarcane sticks
- Raw brown sugar
- Butter
- Teriyaki glaze
- Baking spray
- Fresh mint
Instructions
- Slice pineapple into 2-inch slices1 Fresh pineapple

- Make holes in the shrimp and place on sugarcane sticksSugarcane sticks
- Brush shrimp with teriyaki glazeTeriyaki glaze
- Coat the grill with baking sprayBaking spray
- Grill the pineapple slices for 3 minutes on each side
- Grill the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side
- Cut pineapple slices in half and arrange on the plate
- Place shrimp skewers on top of the pineapple

Fun Fact:
The original idea for shrimp on sugarcane sticks came from a recipe in central Vietnam, where they’re known as “chao tom”. It’s believed to have been created at the old imperial capital of Hue that was once home to the Nguyen Lords who ruled the region.
